Hmmm. I was talking about the argument that AI can enhance creativity with a very insightful young, 100% human person in her 20s who works in a technology field. She made this analogy. Please do not be offended.

Excellent piece. I just signed a freelancer's agreement at a magazine that requires that there be no generative AI in the writing of a story. I wonder how widespread that policy is. I assume that doesn't prohibit using AI to fact-check or do background research, which we've been doing with search engines for many years. Tom what do you make of the Bret Stephens argument recently published in the NYT, saying you shouldn't use AI to write: "The problem with writing with A.I. is that it’s mentally enfeebling — an escalator toward a result when you really need to make a daily habit of taking the stairs."
